Dear Kenwood Customer: Thank you for your e-mail. You may download the TM-D700A programmimg software from our web page. www.kenwood.net Click on Amateur Radio Click on Downloads Click on MCP-RCP Software Click on TM-D700A Information on how to program your TM-D700A from your PC. You will need a STRAIGHT through DB-9 to DB-9 cable, it CAN NOT be a null cable. Please check continuity to make sure its a straight through cable. If you get a request for a username, and password use a different browse other than Netscape Communicator, or Navigator try Internet Explorer. There is NO requirement for a password or user name to access the software on our web site. You will need to use Com 1 or 2 on the PC, and NOTHING CAN SHARE THAT PORT (example mouse) Again nothing can share those ports need for programming. If you have any errors, or time out messages, these are normally due to your PC settings, and not the TM-D700A. You MUST turn the radio off. Then AFTER clicking on the read or write command, you MUST then turn ON the radio at that moment! Then and only then does the program work. We have tried this on several PC with the same results. You CAN NOT have the radio turned on and then do the read or write command. PC Settings: 1. Click on Start 2. Click on Settings 3. Click on Control Panel 4. Click on Systems 5. Click on Hardware 6. Click on Device Manager 7. Click on Ports (Com & LPT) 8. Click on Communications Port (Com 1) 9.
